‘FONKY’ – Beat Fatigue remixes Redtenbacher’s Funkestra tracks from ‘Big Funk Band’ – now out on RSB Records

It has been a while since Dutch Glitch Hop remixer and artist Beat Fatigue has collaborated with Stefan. Redtenbacher’s Funkestra re-imagined by Beat Fatigue was released in 2017.

This funky Glitch Hop collection was created by Beat Fatigue remixing tunes from the ‘Big Funk Band’ album by Redtenbacher’s Funkestra.

“Gurgling bass lines over huge beats, space synth sounds and a zany guitar solos showcases why the collaboration between Beat Fatigue and Stefan Redtenbacher works so well. Although inhabiting different corners – they both firmly live on the funk plane. Funkestra fans will find it hard to not fully embrace the groove of these electronic glitch gems.”

With the exception of ‘Dance (ft. Helena May)’ all tracks have come from the forthcoming album ‘Big Funk Band’.

About Beat Fatigue

Beat Fatigue is a 25 year old producer, DJ and guitarist from Amsterdam.

He was ten years old when he first picked up a guitar. Inspired by his heroes such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Scofield he just kept on making music in any form possible. Now Beat Fatigue tries to combine all the things he has picked up through his on-going musical adventure and integrate it all into one big sandwich that includes Jazz, Blues, Glitch, Dubstep, Soul, Hiphop, Neuro and Funk as the leading theme to get you dance your ass off.

Beat Fatigue’s main goal is to find a new sound that keeps you more awake then your mama after taking her pills and hopefully inspire some people in the process.Funky wobbly swinging bass-lines with jazzy chord progressions, some recorded midi layers, effects, vocal chops, punchy drums and a guitar-jam on top of it is what you can expect of Beat Fatigue’s sound. In a live set you can expect live guitar jams with funky Glitch Hop.

So if you have a long day and you need to get some sleep, we advice you not to press play, it can cause severe energy boosts and subconsciously force you into doing the pigeon dance.

FUNKBERATER

The original ‘Funkberater’ is from the ‘Big Funk Band’ album by the UK based band Redtenbacher’s Funkestra featuring Austrian groove jam band Backwood Five. This glitch Hop Beat Fatigue remix features a hooky slide guitar intro, a huge crawling bass line, fat synth pads, morphed saxophone sounds and a down home sizzling Blues guitar solo by Robert Boogert aka Beat Fatigue. Although the two artists sit in different corners of the Funk spectrum – one being Electronica based and the other Live band based – their collaborations always cook up a mean groove under the motto ‘all is fair in funk’ and Funkestra listeners seems to approve.

FEED THE CHICKEN

With over a million Spotify listens Redtenbacher’s Funkestra yet again collaborates with Glitch Funk artist Beat Fatigue to add to their previous adventures in Funkland. Although predominantly an electronic artist Beat Fatigue also plays a mean Jazz Funk guitar in the midst of gurgling basslines, heavy yet dance-able drumbeats and ‘Blade Runner’ synth vibes. A big drop is guaranteed – and this is good thing!

SLIPPED BISCUIT

‘Slipped Biscuit’ originally from Redtenbacher’s Funkestra ‘Big Funk Band’ album is masterfully remixed by Dutch Glitch Hop artist Beat Fatigue. Rooted in Electronic Dance Music he still manages to nod towards the great Jazz and Funk tradition of decades gone past. The unusual combination of being a formidable remixer and a hugely capable Jazz Funk guitarist is infectious. Reimagining the more traditional sounding sounds of the Redtenbacher’s Funkestra works so well as there is an unspoken understanding of the roots of Funk music within both artists.

DANCE (ft. HELENA MAY)

Bushy tailed and blue eyed soul-stress Helena May had a kick-start to her career by teaming up with Redtenbacher’s Funkestra when she came down from Wales to join battle hardened London Jazz Funk band Redtenbacher’s Funkestra. Subsequently they’ve recorded an album with Funk covers of popular Pop tunes á la their US West Coast equivalents Scary Pockets.

When Helena guested with Backwood Five, a vibrant Austrian offspring of the UK Funkestra they’ve started to add original music to their live shows – ‘Dance’ being one of the tunes which Helena recently released as her first single to pave the path for her solo album to come out soon.

‘Dance’ was created by a writing collaboration of Andreas See, Helena May, Martin Woess, Farina Miss and Stefan Redtenbacher who also produced the single for Helena to help her on her way towards her own artistic ventures. ‘Dance’ remixed by Beat Fatigue is a super hard-hitting and infectious Glitch Hop re-imagination of the original Nu Disco track. We dare you not to dance to this one!
