QUOTES
“Stefan, you know what the funk is about”.
Fred Wesley | legendary MD/trombonist for James Brown, Parliament
“Fantastic grooves, sound and overall conception. It is so good to hear a bassist that has the sensibility of being the foundation of the music.”
Marc Egan | session bassist with Pat Metheny
“Man, that is some bad sh!@£. It’s great to hear from a dedicated funkster like yourself. I really love all the textured bass sh!@£.”
Will Lee | session bassist, Dave Letterman show
“…the bass playing, composition and ensemble performance are both high and diverse in musical quality …[a] combination of originality and roots.”
Rich Appleman | (former) head of bass department, Berklee College of Music
REVIEW | Richard Niles (BBC Radio 2)
“Whoever thought there’d ever be an Austrian Governor? Well, there is one , and I’m not talking about the big guy in California!
Stefan Redtenbacher (rhymes with ‘beddin’ shocker’) is a groove predator who’s the new governor of bass an he’s gonna stay hungry until brings you out in a red heat.
His bottom end is pumping iron into a screaming brass section, inspired by the presence of Mr. Fred Wesley (James Brown, Parliament, the JB horns). The jazzy Juggernaut of rhythm will pound you like a barbarian destroyer until you’re running man – running to dig this terminator of Austro-Funk. Stefan’s dynamic arrangements will cause a lot of collateral damage and turn your underway red, Sonia.
True, lies have been written about artists before, but mister, freeze your skepticism and erase all doubt. If you’re pregnant, this record will give you twins. If you’re the savior of the planet being attacked by murderous robots from the future, these sounds will protect you. You’ll still want more when you’ve played these relentless grooves a million times, but have no fear – Stefan Redtenbacher will be back.
